As you browse our store, you’ll notice that dogs are a central theme throughout all of our greeting cards, postcards, art prints, and stickers. It only makes sense to introduce you to the two adorable pups—Odie and Pinto Beans—who inspire us every single day.
Odie: The Adventure Pup
Odie is a Miniature Bernedoodle from Sawmill Station Doodles in Houston, Texas. At 36 pounds he’s a ball of fluff & energy. Odie is currently living van life as we travel full time and he loves discovering new smells and exploring hiking trails. He struggles with separation anxiety, but loves every human & furry friend he meets along our travels. At just over 2 years old, Odie was born about a year after Just Right was founded. To help you get to know Odie better we’ve compiled 5 facts about this goober:
- Bocci Ball Enthusiast: Odie’s favorite game is Bocci Ball. He’ll chase every ball rolled his way, using his paws to move it to his desired spot—though it’s rarely where you’d want it! Watching him play is both hilarious and heartwarming.
- Chuckit! Ball Obsession: Odie is absolutely obsessed with his Chuckit! ball. When it’s around, his focus is unshakeable.
- Water Lover: Odie recently mastered swimming and paddleboarding (just like the pup on our Austin Paddle Board Postcard). Now, he runs toward every body of water he spots.
- Peanut Butter Fan: His favorite treat is peanut butter. Thankfully though, he’s not a beggar, as he’s isn't allowed any human food.
- Sock Stealer: Odie loves to steal socks and play chase, which has even landed us in the ER for an emergency stomach pump.
Pinto Beans: The Resilient Rescue
Pinto Beans has a heartwarming backstory that showcases the deep bond he’s formed with Claire and her husband, Harrison. Initially a foster from Austin Pets Alive, Pinto was rescued with a recently amputated leg and a developing case of distemper – a highly contagious and oftentimes fatal virus. His recovery was slow and difficult, but as he grew stronger, his vibrant personality shone through, revealing his sweet and spirited nature.
Over the past 4 years, Pinto Beans has blossomed into a goofy, playful, and oh, so loveable companion. Though his journey hasn’t been easy, Pinto’s silliness brings joy to everyone he meets and he’s made Claire & Harrison proud members of the Rescue Dog Parent Club. Here are 5 delightful facts about our brave little Pinto Beans:
- Tripod Dog: After being hit by a car (prior to being rescued) Pinto lost his back, right leg. However, he doesn’t let it slow him down one bit! In fact, oftentimes he moves so quickly on his daily walks that passers-by don’t even notice he’s missing a leg.
- Unexpected DNA: Although we were convinced he was part Corgi for the longest time, we recently gave him a DNA test and were shocked to learn that he’s equal parts German Shepherd, Dachshund, Husky and Chihuahua. What a combo!
- Obsessed with Walks: Pinto’s favorite part of the day is without a doubt walk time. When he senses his daily walk time approaching, he runs up to us clacking his jaw and spinning in circles until we leash him up.
- Strange Toy Choices: Pinto doesn’t like many toys – he’s scared of tennis balls, apathetic about frisbees, and ignores most stuffed animals. However, he has one tiny little stuffed duck (like the size of a cat toy) that he is absolutely in love with. He picks it up and runs around showing it off every time we come home.
- Mr. Squeaky: Pinto is a highly anxious little guy and whines at any & everything he’s excited about or scared of (or both – which is oftentimes the case). You can hear him coming from down the street as he squeaks through the neighborhood on his walks.
